Misty Flicks Film Festival invites young filmmakers from across Aotearoa to submit their films and see their work on the big screen.
Whether it's your first film or your fifth, this is an opportunity to showcase your creativity, share your perspective, and be part of a festival that celebrates independent storytelling.

Ready to Enter?
Who Can Enter?
The Youth Section is open to New Zealand filmmakers aged 17 and under with a connection to the Waikato or Central North Island.
What Do I Need to Make?
Create a short film on your own or with a group of friends. Your film can be between 1 and 10 minutes long.
Important Guidelines:
Films must be suitable for a G or PG audience.
Use age-appropriate language, themes, and visuals.
Include a title at the beginning of your film.
Include credits at the end and acknowledge everyone who contributed, including any adults.
Key Date: Submissions close 30 June 2026
Start planning, start filming, and give yourself plenty of time to finish and submit your film.

How to enter
A parent, guardian, or adult over 18 must submit your film on your behalf.
If any adults helped with filming, editing, or writing, please acknowledge their support in the credits and on your submission form.
