Facilitator
Ninakaye Taane-Tinorau — A respected figure in Māori and Pacific arts, Ninakaye brings over two decades of experience in film, television, music, and event management. A passionate advocate for indigenous rights and a mentor with the Aotearoa Music Managers Forum, she is known for her deep industry insight and powerful advocacy through the My Sisters Are Warriors movement.
Panellists
Alix Whittaker — An independent producer and co-founder of Hot Candle Wave, Alix has produced more than 100 music videos and short films and served as Series Producer for Day One Shorts. Her feature Mum, I’m Alien Pregnant (NZFC-funded) is currently in post-production. Alix is dedicated to fostering distinctive, inclusive storytelling and supporting emerging filmmakers.
Taniora Heketanga Ormsby — A Māori filmmaker and South Seas Film School graduate, Taniora’s award-winning short films Maharahara and The Great South have screened widely, celebrating Māori stories and perspectives with authenticity and creative flair.
Te Kohe (TK) Tuhaka — Actor, director, and producer known for The Dead Lands, Love and Monsters, and 6 Days. TK is renowned for his dynamic screen presence and his commitment to telling bold stories that reflect Aotearoa’s cultural and creative heartbeat.
Will (Viriamu) Fleming — A Cook Islands creative specialising in podcasts, video, and film production. Through his company Campfire Studios, Will champions authentic Māori and Pasifika storytelling, producing acclaimed works such as One More Win and Tales of Pasifika Police in the Time of Dawn Raids.
