Youth Filmmakers – Misty Flicks Film Festival 2025
Are you under 18? Got a phone or camera and a story to tell?
Whether your film is funny, spooky, dramatic, animated or just plain weird — we want to see it!
Misty Flicks Film Festival invites young creatives from across Aotearoa to share their stories and showcase their talent on the big screen.
This is your chance to participate in a festival that celebrates bold storytelling, fresh ideas, and the originality of New Zealand’s next generation of filmmakers!
What You Need to Do
Make a short film by yourself or with a group of friends. It can be anywhere from 1 to 10 minutes long (around 5 minutes is a good goal!).
You can choose the genre. Drama, documentary, animation, something funny, spooky, or totally weird. It’s your story — tell it your way!
Important Guidelines:
Add a title at the start and credits at the end of your film. Make sure you include everyone who has contributed.
Films must be suitable for a G or PG audience.
Open to New Zealand youth under 18 with a connection to the Waikato or Central/Eastern North Island.
Submission deadline: 31 July 2025
Start creating now — don’t leave it to the last minute!
Why Submit a Film?
Your film could be screened at the Regent Theatre in Te Awamutu during the 2025 Misty Flicks Film Festival.
