Opening Night + Short Film Showcase

Masterclass with Mark Westerby: Know Your Audience

Details: Learn how to define your target audience early and utilize behind-the-scenes, EPK, and bespoke marketing content to build genuine interest in your film projects.

Masterclass with Alix Whittaker: From Short to Sundance

Details: Go behind the scenes of getting a funded first feature off the ground in Aotearoa. Includes a screening of Alix’s short film Help, I’m Alien Pregnant.
Feature Film: Mighty Indeed
When: Sunday 8 November | 11:00am

Includes: Feature documentary screening of Mighty Indeed (directed by Vanessa Wells) exploring life and Antarctic science, followed by a filmmaker Q&A.
Misty Flicks Challenge Screening
When: Saturday 7 November | Screening 10:30am (red carpet from 10:00am)
Where: Regent Theatre, Te Awamutu
Price: Free
Includes: Join us for the big-screen screening of this year’s 12 Challenge films: Bandwidth, Dress Code, Final Boarding, First Kiss, Five Fingers of Ginger, Into Darkness, Showgirl, The Getaway Kit, The Memory Palace Package, The Play Within, Two Mums One Film and Waiting For A Date.
Expect 12 different interpretations of the same brief, then stay for the Q&A and hear from some of the filmmakers about what they created and how they approached the Challenge.
And while you’re watching, keep an eye out for Ginger and that coat hanger.

Youth Screening

Includes: Misty Flicks Youth Screening, showcasing films created by emerging young filmmakers from across Aotearoa. The Films are: Dubiety, I Think, Paperclips, Skip, The Time Elevator, Trash, Trash Pickup Day, Fishy Business and The Party Invitation.
